♫ Sam Smith - Stay With Me
So here we are - back to my makeup essential and all-time favourite:
eyeliner.

Maybelline (New) Lasting Drama Gel Liner |
Normally I'm more of a
liquid eyeliner type of gal, but there are also
days when I feel like going a little more heavy with the eyeliner
ala rocker chick or gothic style. That's when gel eyeliner comes in handy, because they typically stay put on the waterline. Enter the (new)
Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner, which I purchased - along with another item - to get
this awesomely cool notebook/organizer from Maybelline.

Maybelline (New) Lasting Drama Gel Liner |
The new improved formula of this Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner claims to be smudge-proof, waterproof, have more intense pigment, and last up to 36 hours. The former two I can test, but I don't fancy having eyeliner on my lids for more than 24 hours, let alone 36! (⌒_⌒;) It also comes with an eyeliner brush, which is a nice touch.
|
Information and ingredients list |
The gel eyeliner comes in a clear plastic, square pot with a round screw-cap lid. It's quite small, and the lid is, in fact, almost twice the height of the square bottom part which houses the gel eyeliner. A little strange, but it's fairly sturdy and the odd shape doesn't bother me.

Maybelline (New) Lasting Drama Gel Liner in "Black" |
The brush included with the eyeliner is actually pretty good; it is shaped just nice for application of thick or thin lines, and the bristles are soft yet firm. I love that it comes with a plastic cover too, making it very travel-friendly.
The colour I picked,
Black, is indeed a jet black shade. The gel eyeliner is also available in Brown. I already have a brown gel eyeliner from Etude House (
review), but it has gold shimmer in it, hence justifying my need to purchase this black one. :P
From the swatches below, you can see that it is really pigmented, and dries to a matte finish. Using the included eyeliner brush, I can draw both thick and thin lines. :)

Swatch on hand |

Maybelline (New) Lasting Drama Gel Liner in Black |
Its claims of being waterproof and smudge-proof were put to the test, and I can happily report that the swatches on my hand hardly budged throughout the day (and after many hand washes). They remove easily using a makeup remover though, so no worries. On the eyes, they lasted at least 8 hours, with only slight fading at the corners and waterline at the end of the day.
At RM 31.90 (I got it at a discount; usual retail price is RM 39.90), I'd say it's definitely a good purchase, whether you're a beginner or old hand at makeup. You don't even need to buy a separate eyeliner brush, as the brush included with the gel eyeliner is pretty good. If you're looking for an
affordable gel eyeliner that is
pigmented,
long-lasting,
waterproof, and
(quite) smudge-proof, I'd definitely recommend you give this a try. (≧∇≦)

Nicely done wings! I can never get mine to look as nice... either that or one turns out good while the other will go all wonky lol
RM 39.90 for the gel liner and a brush? Not too bad a price!
Mieza: Hehe thank you! I think pen gel liners are an awesome alternative, coz they're less messy and also help save time, hehe. Heard the Benefit They're Real liner is more hype than function, haha =X
Sakuranko: Thank you for dropping by! ^^
Blair: Aww thank you! <3 Mine also usually turns out wonky on one side, but luckily I have bangs that partially hide them, hahaha! I think I will be keeping the brush even after I've used up/thrown away the gel eyeliner, lol
Love the precise lines you do - I don't see any wonkiness at all.
I'm a sucker for the brush that comes with it.
Love your skin too!

Oh I love how you wing your eyeliner! I always find myself clumsy using this kind of gel eyeliner because it seems to dries off before I am done drawing.. >_<
You did a great job on the wing! I also like the brush. It looks like a great quality.

Unfortunately, this eyeliner gel can go down under my eyes and create panda eyes on me T__T
Even though it's good, I acknowledge it, but it's not good for me
