♫ Magic - B.o.B ft. Rivers Cuomo
If you've read my past reviews of these
NYX Black Label lipsticks, it will be no surprise to you that I have nothing but praise for these babies. ;)

NYX Black Label Lipstic |
Thanks to a voucher I'd won from Instagram some time back, I managed to pick up a few more of them in my last MySale purchase, including
Summer in Hampton,
Sweet Prawn,
Socialite and
Heather. For today, I'll be sharing my swatches and review of
Socialite.

NYX Black Label Lipstick BLL 178 Socialite |
As I'd mentioned before in my previous reviews, the NYX Black Label lipsticks are packaged in a sleek silvery-black box and tube, with pretty black lace designs printed on the sides. The casing, made from plastic, feels very lightweight, but is fairly sturdy and can withstand a few bumps. One of the best features is the clear base at the bottom, which allows you to identify the shade in a sea of lipsticks, ha!

Socialite is described as a plum-red shade with a creme finish (no shimmer). From experience, it is best not to judge the Black Label lipsticks from the colour shown in the website, as they usually are quite different when seen in real life. I had searched for swatches on this particular shade before purchasing, so I knew it would be much darker than in the stock photos.

Stock photo (source) vs Actual product |
Despite the disparity between the stock photo and actual lipstick shade, I am still glad I picked Socialite, because it is indeed a very pretty colour. It looks quite a dauntingly deep shade in the tube, but applied on the lips it is a very wearable plum red shade. Not as bright as a true red, but neither as vampy as a deep plum; it strikes a nice balance between the two.

Lip swatches of NYX BLL 178 Socialite |
Due to the name of the lipstick (it
is called
Socialite after all), I decided to pair it with a slightly more sophisticated look, hence the black lace dress and diamante necklace. What do you think? (◡‿◡✿)
Once again, I am impressed by this NYX Black Label lipstick. I find the Black Label lipsticks to be very pigmented, glide smoothly onto the lips, and are very moisturizing even when worn without a lip balm. They typically wear for an average of 2-4 hours depending on your eating/drinking habits. I also love the grape soda scent, and with the huge variety of colours to choose from, there will definitely be one (or ten) that will suit you. My only gripe is that they are only available online from overseas, which makes it quite pricey to ship to Malaysia.
✓ Pros: Huge variety of colours available, opaque colour, moisturizing, velvety sheen finish, easy to identify individual shades from lipstick base, lovely design on packaging.
✗ Cons: Plastic packaging is very light and might feel slightly 'cheap', has grape soda scent that might not appeal to all, only sold/available online.

Here is a swatch comparison of the 3 new Black Label lipsticks that I got from my haul (I sold Sweet Prawn to a friend). There will be a separate review for each, but this is just a quick look at all three together, as they do look fairly similar, especially
Summer in Hampton and
Heather.
