Oooh, nail polish!

Nicole by O.P.I. 'That's What I Mint' from the Gumdrops collection

This is no ordinary nail polish. It's one of the shades from Nicole by O.P.I.'s latest Gumdrops collection, which feature eight new limited edition matte texture shades designed to give nails a mouth-watering manicure. The one I have here is 'That's What I Mint', a glittery teal shade, which I got as a prize from Venusbuzz's NoM contest.

The bottle shape is just... weird

Nicole by O.P.I. nail polish bottles are very oddly shaped. It's not round, it's not oval, it's not a shape that I can even describe without using a whole lot of weird adjectives. It's just... odd. Most importantly, it messes up my nail polish storage because it's so irregular. (╯_╰)

Wide, flat brush

Weird bottle aside, the brush is flat and wide, perfect for single-stroke application. I now have a couple other bottles of Nicole by O.P.I., and the formula for these are great, similar to the regular O.P.I. polishes.

The Gumdrops collection feature a "sugar-like" finish that lightly shimmers with fine glitter particles for a brilliant candy colored finish, and I have to agree. This is actually my first time applying sand textured nail polish (I know, I'm so 2000 and late), and I really like it! It's so sparkly and glittery yet matte and sandy at the same time.

One medium-thick coat of 'That's What I Mint' was enough for full opacity, although you'll probably need 2 coats if you apply it thinly. In the photos below, I used 1 coat on thumb, index and middle, with 2 coats on ring and pinky fingers. Doesn't look at that different, eh?


It looks darker and more muted in the shade, but when sunlight hits the polish, it shimmers and sparkles like crazy. It's glittery but not disco-ball kind of blinding. Me likey. (¬‿¬)


I'm so tempted to get a bottle of I Lilac Gumdrops when it's released in Malaysia; it's such a pretty lilac hue! (✿ ♥‿♥) What do you think?
