♫ 蔡依林 - 诗人漫步
In the past couple of years, I've noticed the growing popularity of ulzzang makeup and, slightly more recently, gradient lips. Today, I'll be doing a tutorial of my take on the ulzzang/gradient lip trend, inspired in part by Yoon Eun Hye's lovely makeup in my current k-drama addiction, 보고싶다 "I Miss You".
First, you will need to prepare some items.
- Lip brush - to blend the colours for a subtle gradient effect
- Lip concealer (optional)
- Lip tint
- Lipstick (optional)
- Lip Gloss
Let's get started!
Step 1: As with all lip colour application, you will need to start out with properly moisturized bare lips. It's the bare canvas (so to speak) for your 'art'. ;)Step 2: Conceal your lips using a lip concealer. You can use the leftovers from your foundation application too. I used the Kiss Me Heavy Rotation lip concealer here.
Step 3: Apply a tiny amount of lip tint to the inner/center part of your lips, and blend slightly outwards by pressing your lips together or using a lip brush. I used Etude House Kissful Tint Chou #2.
Step 4 (optional): Apply a similar shade of lipstick on the inner/center part of your lips (on top of the lip tint) and blend outwards using a lip brush. I used Peripera My Color Lips #04 Holy Pink.
Step 5: Finish with a coat of clear lip gloss or lip balm to lock in the colour and provide moisture to lips! I used Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Lip Gloss "Candy Baby".
Voila! The result is a deliciously pink gradient pout! ~♡(´ε` )
One very important thing to remember when doing a gradient lip is blending! We want the colour gradient to be smooth and subtle, so using a lip brush is recommended, especially if you're using a lipstick instead of the watery-type lip tints.
Hope you enjoyed the tutorial! It's been a while since I've done a step-by-step. ^^;; Do tell me what are your thoughts on the gradient lip trend in the comments, I'd love to hear your opinions! :)

Love this look. I think this pink shade really flatters Asian skin tone.
I love this lips ombre turned out to be, very girly! The Etude House lip tint shade is so gorgeous! I think I'm in love with the shade :D

Same with Isabel! Lips too dry :(
The Unprofessional Beauty Blog: Thank you so much! :)
Magic Chic: The EH lip tint is pretty good, and this is definitely my fave shade out of the 4! :) It smells strongly of cherry though, so do take note. XD
Isabel: My lips also kinda dry (can see from the concealer pic LOL *coughcough*)
Camy: Thank you~~~ XD
Carolyn: Applying lip balm before going to bed works wonders!! :D Just don't use those with menthol coz that will only dry out your lips even more. Vaseline is best. :)
This is so cute! I love the look of the gradient pink!
Cute pink! But I can never achieve that kind of lips. My lips are too chapped for have one.
Yay! Finally a tutorial from you. The pink gradient lips tutorial is so useful to me =3 But I don't have a lip tint, any subs for it? :|

Nancy: Thank you! :3 Pink is definitely my fave choice for lip colour.
Jennifer: I also have really dry lips sometimes. I find that applying lip balm before bed works wonders. :D
Nicole: Ehehehe yeah, I haven't done one in ages! You can substitute with a lipstick, but you'll have to blend well so that the gradient is subtle. :)
Kelvin: Hahahahaha! I'll take that as a compliment, thank you! XD
My lips are too dry for this :(
