Would you believe me if I told you I'd never done a facial session before in my entire life? Well, it's true! Even some of my friends who are guys go for facials once every couple of months, so imagine my embarrassment horror surprise when I heard that from them.

Anyway, I was really excited to get the opportunity to try out my first ever facial pampering session when the awesome folks at CellAct kindly invited me over to their salon to try out their customized facial session. :)

The salon at Taman Connaught was easily recognizable among the row of shophouses, thanks to its pristine teal-and-white facade as well as the large bank right next to it. The inside of the salon was cool and clean, with comfortable sofas and chairs in the modest lounge/reception area for patrons to sit. Once inside, I was invited by Kelly, the manager, to remove my shoes and place them in a discreet little shoe cupboard, and given a pair of slippers to wear in the salon.

After that, I was led to the back, where the treatment rooms and consultation area was located. The treatment rooms are located on both the left and ride side of the corridor, with the brightly lit consultation area on the left in between 2 of the bigger treatment rooms.

Before starting the facial session, patrons are asked a few questions regarding their skin condition and overall health and lifestyle habits. This is so that the expert therapists at CellAct can then customize the facial session according to your skin's needs. My combination skin was diagnosed as being extremely horribly dry, with large pores and blackheads especially around the nose and cheek area, so my therapist for the day, Jen, suggested that I undergo a Principal Facial for moisturizing and pore tightening, as well as blackhead removal. Being a facial first timer, I was more than happy to let the experts handle the situation. XD


After the consultation, I was led to one of the treatment rooms and given a robe to change into. After that, Jen came in with the items for start the facial, and the light was dimmed so that the room looked warm and cozy, perfect to make patrons comfortable and relaxed. There was also soft music playing in the background too, so it's very easy to just relax and fall asleep. ^^;;

Before starting the facial session, they will prep your face by cleansing it with the CellAct Swiss cleansing milk. No worries if you have makeup on, because they will help you remove it completely, even stubborn waterproof mascara. All the products used in their treatments are original CellAct Swiss products from Switzerland, so rest assured that you are in good hands. :) They will begin the session with a welcome massage from neck to arms with essential oils, so that you'll be able to relax, de-stress and get ready for your pampering facial session. :D

Jen was a great therapist, because she explained every single step of the facial process, and cheerfully answered the questions I had regarding some of the products used. I particularly liked the scent of some of the items used, such as the apple-scented toner and orange-scented lotion. :D

In the photo collage above, the first pic is the soothing mask after blackhead removal (20mins), then the moisturizing mask treatment, which is left on for about 20 minutes. Excess product is then gently wiped off with a damp cloth, followed by a layer of lotion which is gently massaged into the skin. Next, a second layer of the same lotion is applied and left on for another 20 minutes. Finally, the mask is wiped off again, and toner is applied to lock in the healthy nutrients and moisture of the masks.

The whole process takes about 1.5~2 hours, depending on each individual and their skin's requirements. Mine took a little longer because I had a lot of blackheads (Eww!) and extracting them took a while. Truthfully, that part was quite painful, but it was seriously worth it just to see the final results! Like they say, "no pain, no gain", right? XD

My appearance on the left looks like I haven't slept in a week. Well, that's because I practically haven't had enough sleep for approximately a month. HAHA! Notice the dull skin, visible pores, blackheads, puffy eyes and dark circles. T__T
But after the facial, I felt so much more rejuvenated, and I daresay look fresher as well! I noticed that my skin looked noticeably brighter, felt much more moisturized, blackheads are gone (I just have to keep repeating this because it's totally miraculous to me), pores are tightened, eyes are less puffy and dark circles are greatly reduced!

I'm really glad I got to experience my first ever facial treatment session with them, because the results are amazing indeed. :D Would highly recommend this facial salon to ladies who need a lil' pick-me-up for their skin, especially if you live nearby. ;)
