♫ Pixie Lott - Dancing On My Own (ft. GD & TOP)
This is the second part of my Gmarket haul review. The previous one was on the Peripera My Color Lips lipstick, so today I'll be reviewing the items from It's Skin. (I think I kinda got carried away with the amount of pictures, because they're just too cute to NOT snap a few more. >_<)
Macaron Lip Balm & Babyface Petit Blusher |
The blusher came packaged with a sturdy sheet of flexible plastic, upon which was the cut-out of a pair of wings. (Yes, I'm a sucker for anything cute with wings.) With a smiley face on the blusher compact, the whole thing looked super adorable.

After removing its wings... :( |
Opened up, you can see the fluffy puff with a ribbon.
Close-up of the fluffy puff |
The compact itself is quite small, about 5.5cm in diameter, and easily fits into the palm of your hand. The fluffy puff that comes with the blusher is slightly smaller in order to fit snugly inside it, approximately 4cm in diameter. It is soft to touch, and works well in picking up the product. However, I still think that the puff in the Majolica Majorca Puff de Cheek blush is softer compared to this one.
Below are swatches of the blusher.

Below, I had to apply quite a few layers of blusher for the colour to actually show up in the photo, lol.
I like the colour of this blusher, because it's pinkish without being too bright or unnatural. Also, it's pretty much foolproof to use, because it is not too pigmented and the puff does not pick up too much product, so you won't get clown cheeks even if you're heavy-handed like me. XD The texture is fine and applies smoothly on the apples of the cheeks. Its small size makes it easy to store, and the cute design of the compact is definitely a bonus.
My only gripe with this is the puff. As I mentioned earlier on, it's small and fits snugly into the compact, but it can be hard to hold onto it and get the blusher from the pan. You'll have to hold onto the ribbon bow and pat it quite vigorously to get the product to stick to the puff.
It's Skin Babyface Petit Blusher retails for 6,000 KRW or US$5.25 on Gmarket Korea.
✓ Pros: Adorable packaging, small and convenient size, puff included, foolproof application, lovely colour that suits most (light) skin tones.
✗ Cons: Not very pigmented, puff is difficult to hold, limited availability outside of Korea.
✗ Cons: Not very pigmented, puff is difficult to hold, limited availability outside of Korea.
A size and colour comparison pic of the 3 different puff-type blushers I own.
My favourite is still the Majolica Majorca Puff de Cheek though. (^_^;)

Yes, I realize the Engrish isn't quite... correct. |
The Macaron Lip Balm was a free gift with any It's Skin purchase on Gmarket, so I was really glad to have received this one, because I'd been planning to buy it even before the promotion came up. (⌒▽⌒)
The main attraction of this particular lip balm is, of course, its macaron-shaped packaging. Honestly, it's practically indistinguishable from a real macaron of the same size and colour! The size of the lip balm is 5cm in diameter, and is a soft pastel pink colour all over on the outside.
The lip balm opens into halves with a twist screw cover. There is a generous amount of product inside, although I cannot seem to find the exact weight mentioned anywhere. The lip balm looks pink in the container, but applies completely clear with the sweet scent of strawberries. As the product is near the surface, I don't need to use my fingers to apply. Instead, I use it like any regular stick-type lip balm, by applying it straight from the container. :)
Not much difference besides the glossy sheen once applied. I've tried applying the lip balm before going to sleep, and I find that it really does help to moisturize my lips overnight. I also layer this under lipstick, to reduce lip lines and keep my lips moisturized.
I must admit, I merely wanted this macaron lip balm for its packaging and colour, but after using it, I am seriously considering getting the other 3 types too! It wears pretty well for a lip balm, about 4 - 5 hours with occasional sips of water. It is scented but tasteless, so I don't have the urge to lick it off, thank goodness. XD The strawberry scent is quite distinct at first when first applied, but fades after a while on the lips.
You can't eat this. :P |
It's Skin Macaron Lip Balm retails for 5,800 KRW or US$5.08 on Gmarket Korea.
✓ Pros: Attractive packaging, effectively moisturizes lips, nice scent, tasteless, 4 scents available.
✗ Cons: Limited availability outside of Korea, application might be messy using fingers, packaging is bulky compared to regular lip balms.
Om nom nom nom. XD |

the macaron lip balm is so cute! Btw, isn't there It's Skin in Malaysia? Is it cheaper on Gmarket?
Isabel: I'm not sure if it's sold in Malaysia, because not much press or publicity about it. :( Do you know if they have a shop here in KL/PJ? :D
