♫ Bump Of Chicken - ゼロ (Zero)
Yesterday was the second and final day of Anime Festival Asia Malaysia (AFAMY), so my friend and I went to check it out. The event was held at PWTC, so it was easily accessible by public transport, albeit a little further away from the beaten track. We got there around 1 p.m., so the ticket booths were practically empty.
Festival ticket only; RM 15. |
We thought the event was in one of the halls in the main building, but it turned out to be the ones on the opposite, across the river (after seeing the PWTC guards trying to shoo away cosplayers).
It was hot and stuffy, even with the air-conditioning, because of the confined space and mass of people around.
First thing we saw when we entered the hall was Danny Choo's Culture Japan booth, complete with Mirai itasha. Talk about a sweet ride. ;)
Moekana cards on the dash! |
Now that's just creepy.

The Good Smile Company booth |
This Ultimate Madoka was pretty awesome. I mean, look at those wings!
There was a huge crowd lining up for the Moe Moe Kyun maid cafe and Atelier Royale butler cafe.
The Bandai booth was disappointingly small. :( Spotted a few nice figurines though.
Most of the good stuff like AFA shirts were already sold out at the AFA Shop, but the Moekana cards were back in stock. :D They were sold out the day before.
AFA Shop at one corner of the hall. |
Diablo III: Collector's Edition box set |
WANT. SO BAD. asdfghjkfghjkl
Of course, what's AFA without some cosplayers, right? :D
Tadakatsu Honda from Sengoku Basara |
Sice from Final Fantasy Type-0 |
Alois and Ciel from Kuroshitsuji |
No idea which anime/manga/game this is from, but they're pretty good. :) |
Assassins from AC. |
I should know this, but I don't. Anyway, kitsune fight! |
To be honest, I think that AFA MY has a lot of improve upon. The event itself was okay, but the venue was a bit too small and dimly lit. That being said, there were a lot of empty spaces in the event hall. Also, I expected a lot of more booths from more anime/game companies. I'm not sure if the brochure I got was faulty or what, but there was no listing of events and stage shows for both days, and neither were there sign boards with the scheduled show times, so it was pretty confusing.
Last but not least, (and this is just my personal opinion)...
...which is why I did not take any photos of Miku cosplayers, because there were too damn many and they annoy the hell out of me.

Mary: You're right! I think they should think of some internal upgrades, lol. It's a pretty old place. >_<
Waah I'm so jealous! I love Anime cons and festivals! i haven't been one in a while sadly. I really want to go to Comi-Con (I mean I live in California, I should be able to go!). Eeeek! D3 collector's edition! *drool*
I wanted one so badly, but they were sold out at my local game shops T_T
Nancy: I still think anime cons in Malaysia have a lot of improve on! >_< I was drooling at the box the guy was holding. Thank goodness I wasn't the only one who went up to request a photo of it, haha!
